Thanks for a great explanation. I have a site, this one actually, that was on page 1 since I built it 5 months ago. I inadvertently did what you describe in your micro niche article. I have added a little bit here and there but not much. All of a sudden I got slapped back to page 66 yesterday. I hope it is just temporary, but this has happened on and off to all my other sites. In this case it is really frustrating because after reading your article I think I did everything right, without knowing what I was doing. Exact domain name etc.

They may only show 67 characters but I am sure they read more than that, It’s a good place to feed them more information that your visitors won’t see.

That’s a good point, I should have been more clear in how I wrote that out. I’ll go back through and correct that in my post.

Nice post, definitely something to do if your not doing it however I may disagree with you on one point.

Meta titles should be no more than 67 characters long (Search Engines won’t show more than that)

They may only show 67 characters but I am sure they read more than that, It’s a good place to feed them more information that your visitors won’t see.

As for this post, finding your competitors’ weakness by judging their incompetence/laziness is very spot-on.

And to review great SEO-friendly copy for meta info, just check out the top sites listed in highly competitive keywords such as ‘cd rates’. Note which ones catch your attention, and if you’re lazy/unoriginal, just create templates from them.
